John Vergot Legion Award

The UNITED STATES SUBMARINE VETERANS INC. was started in

1963 by a group of United States Submarine Veterans of World

War II in Groton, Connecticut, the "Submarine Capital of the

World".  They shared a belief in the need for an organization

open to all submariners, past, present and future to uphold the

USSVI Creed:   "To perpetuate the memory of our shipmates

who gave their lives in the pursuit of duties while serving their

country. That their dedication, deeds and supreme sacrifice be a

constant source of motivation toward greater accomplishments.

Pledge loyalty and patriotism to the United States Government." 

We now have over 120 local Bases (chapters) with over 12,000 active members.

On February 17th, Keystone Base, Harrisburg, Pa became the

newest chapter of USSVI and is proud to call American Legion

Post 730 homeport for our monthly meetings that are held on

the second Tuesday of the month at 1800.
